The program will discuss Opinion 518 and how it affects the roles of mediators, attorneys, and their clients throughout the mediation process, including how it reshapes expectations, responsibilities, and professional boundaries in the mediation setting. With a particular emphasis on how an attorney’s role in the mediator process is affected by this Ethics Opinion, the presentation will focus on the practical implications for counsel and clients before, during, and after mediation, covering participation, communications, and strategy, so attendees leave with clearer guidance on navigating mediation effectively and ethically after Opinion 518.
