Program Summary

Generative AI has been in the spotlight for almost a year, but the issue of legal liability for infringing output has yet to become any clearer. While legislatures are racing to develop AI regulation, and disgruntled authors are leading class-action lawsuits against AI tech giants, what does the current law say? Join Diana Bikbaeva of Marashlian & Donahue, PLLC, in discussing how the existing law treats "AI-powered" torts and what to expect of the arms race of law and technology.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Analysis of factors courts will take into account in cases of AI output infringing on copyright
  • Legal implications of AI-powered defamation, fake news, and misinformation
  • Section 230 immunity's (in)applicability to AI companies
  • Discussion of the up-and-coming regulation and current lawsuits that will shape the future of AI law in the U.S

This course is co-sponsored with myLawCLE.
