Program Summary
This program will explore the legal and policy implications of the anticipated 2025 U.S.-U.K. Trade Agreement, with particular focus on its potential structure, strategic priorities, and broader geopolitical significance. The discussion will examine key aspects such as trade frameworks, regulatory alignment, and cross-border economic cooperation, as well as implications for sectors like technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. Kathleen Claussen | Georgetown University Law Center
Kathleen Claussen is Anne Fleming Research Professor and Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center. She also serves as Managing Co-Director of Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law and is the founder of the Consortium for the Study and Analysis of International Law Scholarship. Among other leadership roles, she has served on the Executive Council and Executive Committee of the American Society of International Law and is co- Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Economic Law.
Prior to joining the academy, Professor Claussen was Associate General Counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Earlier in her career, she was Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. She is a graduate of the Yale Law School, Queen’s University Belfast where she was a Mitchell Scholar, and Indiana University where she was a Wells Scholar.
